The Mattress Affair (Flint and Steele Mysteries, #1) - by Cheryl Landmark

I was asked by Cheryl if I would read and review this book for her.
Firstly I would like to thank Cheryl for providing me with a copy of this book.

its about 23 000 words so it is not very long novel.

The book is being told out of Flints view - Flint aka the Nose is a 4 and 1/2 year old Black Labrador and his human
companion Meredith Steelle.

Flint's best Friend is Georgie a Jack Russel

Abigail is Flints and Meredith Neighbour and old woman who isn't very nice except to Flint.

The "Baddies" of the story is Caleb and his wife - Abigails Nephew.
After using his nose and sharpend hearing and solving nomurous case Flint decides to open his own Detective agency namely Flint and Steelle - although Meredith isn't aware she is a partner.
The fact that the book is being told out of Flints perspective is what's making the book so funny. While reading and then looking at my puppy I can't help but think is this how my pup also thinks.

The one part that made me smile and laugh is when Flints going to Georgie to recruit him for a stake out and he realise that Georgie went to the vet, the fact that he felt so sorry for his friend and that Flint states he himself is still a bit traumatised from his Vet visit in spring.

Also loved the Pee-messaged.  I think that's how dog thinks.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves animals and is up for a detective story that is not so serious and is light.  Also a great read for young teenagers.

love this book.

Big Game: A Hunted Love Novella - by Aden Lowe - Cover Release

Hunted Love by Aden Lowe will hit the Shelves on 15 September 2014

Warning:

RECOMMENDED FOR AGES EIGHTEEN AND UP DUE TO EXPLICIT SEXUAL SITUATIONS, AND STRONG LANGUAGE

Genre

 Western Romance

Synopsis
When a legendary predator decides prize horses should be on his menu, Kate takes the advice of her neighbour ranchers and hires a big game hunter to track the mountain lion and remove the threat. The hunter arrives to take up the trail, but instead of the seasoned older man she expects, he's young and impossibly sexy.
Freshly back from deployment to Afghanistan as a special forces operative, Jakob needs to clear his head of the horrors of war. When his uncle is injured, Jakob steps in to fulfil the older man's commitment to hunt down a mountain lion on the other side of the state. The prospect of several days in the wilderness with only his horses and dogs for company sounds like the ideal opportunity. Except the infuriating female rancher insists on going along for the ride

This is a small piece out of the book just a taste of what to expect

A faint noise drew Jakob from the twilight that precedes waking, straight into full alert. Unsure what disturbed him, he lay still and allowed his eyes to open a bare slit. Just his luck that mountain lion would be prowling through camp. Unable to spot anything out of place, he sat up, careful not to move too quickly and get his head injury in an uproar again.

Splashing, louder than the stream flowing over the rocks, drew his attention. Fascination froze him in place for an instant, forcing him to just watch. At the creek, Kate straightened and squeezed water from her hair, then flipped it back to swing down her naked back. Water droplets clung to her pale skin like crystals, refracting the light and mesmerizing him.

She half-turned to retrieve something from the ground, revealing the curve of one breast. The sound of Jakob’s agonized groan must have carried, because she straightened and turned to face him, moving too quickly, and lost her balance.

Head wound forgotten, he leaped up and dove across the small camp area in an attempt to catch her before she could fall into the icy water. She recovered just as he reached her, and stood facing him, breathing hard. Something in her face had changed and for the first time since meeting her, Jakob felt as if she actually saw him. The unreachable Ice Queen was gone, and in her place…

This sure will be a good read, hot and spicy.

Aden Lowe the Author

As an English major in college, I took a summer job as a proof reader for a small town newspaper, and got hooked on editing. I also worked my way through college training horses. After graduation, I landed a job for a small independent editing firm, and stayed there for 15 yrs. An old friend, Lucian, approached me to edit his special fiction project, and I got hooked. After an insane few months editing his Dom Wars series for him, Lucian convinced me I should try my hand at writing as well. I’m his co-author for Round Six, the final Dom Wars instalment, and we will co-write the White Knight Academy series as well. And in Sept 2014, I’ll release my debut solo work, an Erotic Western with BDSM elements, “Big Game: A Hunted Love Novella”. In addition, I have a military series in the planning stages.

Divergent

Wow it what comes to mind when I finished this book.

Veronica Roth has outdone herself in this book and has set the bar for Young Adult Writers higher.

With great characters, with huge personalities you know there will be some interesting scenes.  The characters you hate you hate them with all that is in you and those you love you love them with your whole heart.

You live yourself in this book and you just say to yourself just on more page, one more page...

This book has a great story line and keeps you on the edge of your seat.  Some of the scene my heart was beating so fast and others I was holding my breath.

Off course what is a young adult book with a love interest and we found it in Tobias aka Four.  I believe many girls and young woman fell in love with the character as I did.

with a tense final chapter you just have to say what will happen in Insurgent

or as we read  in the final chapter I am not abnegation nor dauntless I am Divergent

Insurgent by Veronica Rothe

Insurgent the second book in the Divergent series

After finishing Insurgent so many things was going through my mind.

One was what the **** was that, does this mean Tris Prior is sort of Royalty is some ways.
What does this mean, the human nature, what there like a disease that caused the people act like that.
Hopefully these questions will be answered in Allegiant

I am sad that Lynn died I really felt for Uriah.

For a moment I thought this was it this is over for Tris and Four, she has gone to far. And then Love does concur all. He still loves her and forgave her for betraying him.

I am disappointed in Caleb for betraying his sister

and what the hell, Evelyn is more dangerous than Jeanine.

This book was a page turner, I just kept saying just one more chapter. I cant wait to get started on Allegiant.

Well done Veronica....

Allegiant - by Veronica Roth

Allegiant is the final Instalment in the Divergent series with 526 pages it is also the thickest one.

be warn the review can't be given without spoilers.

The book start  of whap bam in the middle of things.
From the beginning Tris and Tobias love is tested.
Tobias loyalty to his mom and Tris loyalty to her one free will.
Early in the book you learn that the Allegiant is a secret group who want to go outside the fence, re-install the faction system and help the outside world.
We also learn that Divergent is people with healed generics. The Bureau keeps and eye on the test and save the Divergents
I do have to say compared to the 1st and 2nd one this book is a bit of a drag, I really thought never in my live will the last book a series have a boring part and yet here I am suprised.

Be warned and prepare yourself that there will be a few pages that is extremly boring o.k it is actually 100 pages just push through it and the rewards will be great.

I do feel that Tris death was true to her Character of being Selfless and Brave and it did her justice.
However, you just can't help but not feel sorry for Tobias and the fact that he feels she left him here in the world all alone.

The overall is a good read but not great and the ending is perfect to a wonderfull series.

I give the book 4 stars but the series 5 stars.

I Can't wait for the films who will be released in 2016 and 2017 and see how they will do this book justice

How to Write a book Review

Writing a Fiction Book Review

Note: You don't have to answer every question -- they're suggestions!

Points to Ponder:

What was the story about?
Who were the main characters?

Were the characters credible?

What did the main characters do in the story?

Did the main characters run into any problems? Adventures?

Who was your favorite character? Why?

Your personal experiences

Could you relate to any of the characters in the story?

Have you ever done or felt some of the things, the characters did?

Your opinion

Did you like the book?

What was your favorite part of the book?

Do you have a least favorite part of the book?

If you could change something, what would it be? (If you wish you could change the ending, don't reveal it!)

Your recommendation

Would you recommend this book to another person?

What type of person would like this book?

Things to Bear in Mind:

Don't be intimidated by famous authors -- many have written mediocre books.
Don't review books by people you know, love, or hate

So just do what feel natural and write an honest review.

xoxo

The Fault in our Stars - John Green

Like Hazel Grace said "'As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.'

This was me with the book as I am reading I'm falling more and more in love with this book and you just know in the back of you mind that you heart will get broken.

I love how strong Hazel Grace is and the fact that she has this attitude of I have cancer so what.
August Winter with his metaphors and big dramatic Gestures.

Isaac and his night of the broken trophies .
The Characters felt real and the way they act is real. It shows the other part of cancer/survivor patients. The pain and the conflict with in themselves makes this story and book real. How Hazel is Affraid to hurt everyone and then becomes the strong one.
From the beginning of the book you laugh and smile and that makes this book great. It did have a twist I did not see coming. And believe me you won't see it either (don't want to give a spoiler)

All I can say is from about chapter 17 single tears came down my cheek and the BAMMM
all at once I had my ugly cry - the cry that is reserved for Titanic, Armagedon, Broken hearts and Funerals.
A piece of my heart was pulled out and stomp on like broken trophies - my night of a broken heart.

This book I will suggest to everyone and anyone who is looking for a real love story with first love and heart ache.  80 years from now this book will be among the Classics such as Pride and Prejudice and How to kill a mocking jay.

I did not watch the movie yet but if its is going to be anything like the book i will be needing a few tissues.

Dystopia by Anthony Ergo

when I go this book I didn't know what to expect.
I just knew it was a young adult book that's that.

After reading the first 30  pages you can get the general idea that the main Character - Sash
has really bad luck. She is extremely superstitious believing in all the bad luck omens such as walking under a ladder, or a black cat comes across your path,  the number 13.

Then all things hit the fan - and I realise this book is a Paranormal thriller - about ghost and that caught my attention (since I love ghost stories)
the Hangman ghost with play again paper give this story in its first few chapter that yearning to know what will happens, so you read to get to the next page, and then the next one.

I love the fact that some of the chapters are being told out of other characters perspectives. this give the book a fresh feel.

Character wise I love Sasha - the bad omen and the number 13 keeps this character a different feel.  In the beginning we she Sash as a weak, asthma, bad luck, weird girl. But as you progress with the book you see how see grows and other come her fears. She becomes a strong young woman.

What is a young adult book with out a bit of romance and we find it. Aaron give us our male character and the love interest. He knows his gorgeous and is a natural flirt. This makes us love him.

Blake I just don't like from the beginning, you get the feeling that he is so much in love with himself and that fact of his powers he thinks he is untouchable - this is what we love to hate in the bad guy

Zara is one of our supporting characters she is this beautiful, strong young woman with a bright future ahead and loyal to Agent Hunter.

The last important character is the Hangman ghost. We learn that this is a powerful spirit and you can't hide from it.

The book plays of in various locations.  I love the describing of the agency and that is an old mansion that gives it this "spooky" feeling that makes it very ironic. The tunnels and a old castle.

I myself is deadly afraid of a Ouija board and reading about this in the one chapter did scare me to bits. I even had to leave the book that night and it took me 2 days to get the guts to read this chapter in daylight of course - the scene itself isn't that scary but for me it was.

The book had twist and turns that I did not see coming and I LOVED it.

This book is a must read for anyone who love a paranormal book and want to read something fresh.

Well Done Anthony. I am a huge fan of your work and I believe you will be giving us great books in the future.

The next book Hysteria the second book in the Dystopia series by Anthony Ergo
 will be available October 2014

Books vs E-books

Books vs E-books

Do you prefer the book or the electronic copy

Firstly what is a E-book
Its an electronic version of a printed book which can be read on a computer or a specifically designed handheld device

Where as a book is
a written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and bound in covers.

Why should you consider getting a E-book reader

*you can get you book in an instant
*all you books are stored in a light and portable device
*You can travel anywhere with it

Where as books
*you can build a collection that can be seen in your house
*its the real thing
*you have the smell and the feel of the book

I think it depend on the person him/her self.

I love books I love the smell of it and the look of book. Although the E-book reader comes
in handy when you travel it still doesn't do the book justice

Me personally prefer books over E-books......

How about you....
